Brad from the Cosmic Geppetto Podcast is back with us on his tip on what to do when you’ve finally relented on getting that puppy you swore you’d never get.  

It never fails.  When the kids come down the steps in the morning and when they get home after school, the first thing they do is scream out for their favorite being on the planet.

It ain’t Daddy.

It isn’t even Mom.

It’s Boomer.

His full name, according to Logan, is Boomer Blue Sweetheart Mendenhall.  He’ll probably have more names by the time you read this.

Boomer is a seven month old Golden Retriever. He is sweet and loving and fun and smart as a bag of wet mice.  Pretty much the perfect dog.

We had a dog before.  His name was Ash.  Ash was a Jack Russell mix who was ten years old when we started bringing kids into the house. He was not thrilled with the new dynamic.  There never was a great ‘Boy & His Dog’ relationship with him and the kids.

Heather took note that Logan loved spending time with his babysitter and, more importantly, his babysitter’s Goldendoodle.  “He lights up when he sees that dog.  And the dog is so good with him.”  I didn’t realize there was special meaning to my wife’s words.  Because I’m very dumb.

So began Heather’s Get A Dog Campaign.  At least twice daily I’d receive texts with pictures of adorable Retriever puppies for sale.  I didn’t share these with my single guy coworkers because I didn’t want them jealous I was getting dog pictures while they only got nudes sent from girls they met on Tinder.

I lasted a couple weeks before we added Boomer to the family.
