Science museums may be a necessary evil. The children get a chance to explore new ideas and concepts. They burn energy. And if you are able to get a membership to one, you can go to it nearly every day!
But they can be a drag. Especially if you are a hands-off kind of mom like me who encourages their kid to explore to their heart’s content, not necessarily moving them along when I’m ready (which is in 5 minutes) but when they are ready. Which could sometimes take hours.
How To Enjoy Science Museums
Here’s my top tip for enjoying science museums. Go with friends. The kids are likely to move along faster. And if they don’t – who cares, you are chatting with your friend. It is a great way to have a playdate with no clean-up at your house or clean-up when the playdate is over. On top of that, many if not most, allow you to bring your lunch, so you can enjoy a picnic together! And, when the visit is over, you’ll leave with your heart full from adult conversation and your children will be a little more tired from keeping up with your friend’s children. Win – win – win.
