At some point in a parent’s life, you just sit back and start having a little fun – at your child’s expense. If you’re at that point and not sure how to initiate the fun, consider kicking it off on Easter morning (insert evil laugh here).

We’ve been seeing a ton of fun “at your kid’s expense” ideas and I’m pretty excited to try a few of these “pranks” on my kids on Easter morning during the traditional Egg Hunt. Especially since Easter falls on April Fool’s Day! You might even go down as world’s coolest parent!

Here’s our Top 5 Favorite Easter Egg Hunt Pranks:

5: Decorate the eggs to blend in with the environment.

Hey kids, it’s time for the egg hunt! Oh, you can’t find them? Oh right, that’s because they’re all camouflage and makes the experience super frustrating and confusing. Have fun!

4: Put the eggs just above the height they can reach.

There’s nothing more adorable then seeing your little tike on their tippy toes, trying to reach something they  really, really want. Parents: make sure to have your phone ready for photos so you can look back and laugh to yourself later.

3: Put the eggs above the height they can reach, and give them a tool to reach the egg (but the tool is a half inch to short).

Bummer. They’re so close. He almost got it. So frustrating to watch, yet so what’s the word..satisfying? Parents: make sure to have your phone ready for video so you can remember how evil you are.

2: Remove the “good” candy from the wrapper, and rewrap with their least favorite fruit.

In my house, for my son, it’s grapes. My daughter is pretty good with fruit. For her, I’ll wrap…sardines?

1: Set up an extra awesome Egg Hunt, then when the kids are excited to get started, make them sit and watch while mom and dad enjoy it instead. (Thanks Bleeping Lisa for this fun idea!)
