The mom uniform in the 1950’s was a bit different from what we might see today. Back then, a neatly pressed dress, along with matching high-heel shoes, polished hair and maybe even a hair bow was common. If I did all that before leaving the house for a trip to the grocery store, we’d all be dead, because I’d never make it to the store. Someone would find me on the floor with a list in my hand that reads, “Milk, Juice, Eggs, Bread, (2) Vodka”.

Fast forward to 2018. Today’s mom uniform consists of the standard black leggings or exercise pants and some sort of shirt. The shirt may be something we previously slept in, has various baby vomit on it, or if we’re lucky, it’s a clean shirt that was just laundered, (yet wrinkled from sitting in the dryer for too long). Our hair is in a messy “pineapple” on top of our head. It’s probably unwashed, and may have some food in it that we missed from the erratic food fight from breakfast.

If there is one thing I avoid like the plague, it’s jeans. I only put on a pair of jeans if I absolutely have to. I’m on my hands and knees picking up toys that fell into the deep corners under my couch. (BTW, take a moment to watch our video “COUCH GRAVEYARD”, you can totally relate!)

I’m also on the floor cleaning up spilled milk and Cheerios, or sitting in crisscross applesauce for hours on end folding laundry. Do I want to be doing these things in jeans? No. I may as well be wearing 6 inch stilettos.

Put me in a nice, comfy pair of leggings and I’ll spend all day long doing all the mom things that a mom needs to do. There’s something about leggings that makes a mom go the extra mile.

You need me to carpool tonight? Wait, let me look down at my pants. I’m wearing my black leggings, yup, I can do it!

Husband is running late and needs me on double bed time duty? Oh no! Wait, I’m wearing leggings. I got this.

You get the picture. Every mom needs her power pair of black leggings, and comfy shirt and she is rocking her day like a badass mother fucker.
